Attend spring training at the 2008 One Midas Convention and score big next season!  Together, IMDA and Midas have teamed up to plan a convention that will offer ideas to improve your business and increase your profitability.  And, since some of the best ideas come from fellow teammates, we’ve included discussion round tables to give dealers the opportunity to share ideas with each other.  Midas will be recognizing the top 50 major league managers from Midas shops throughout North America at the convention.  Bring your managers and they will have the chance pick up on the signals that will advance your players.  Plus, all the heavy hitters will be at the Annual IMDA Tradeshow.  Many vendors offer special discounts made available only to tradeshow attendees. Don’t forget about all the great door prizes!  Register now!

Keynote Speakers

Bill Staiton
Expect a profusion of ideas, information and insights that have direct applications to you. This is not just a motivational "get 'em charged up and leave 'em hanging" speech (although you will be motivated!). It's not a bunch of theory. This is a keynote presentation unlike any you've ever seen before. Yes, like in most good keynotes, you'll get sound, nuts-and-bolts information that you can put to use immediately. But in the next moment, you'll be laughing hysterically. You will leave this keynote feeling energized, brimming with new ideas, and mentally charged to take on the day!

Bill's a solid business guy who has been there done that. He worked in corporate management for 20 years. He owns two companies. And he's authored nine corporate training programs on subjects from Customer Service to Leadership and Teambuilding.

Join us for this session Wednesday, March 5 at the 2008 One Midas Convention and walk away motivated, inspired and ready for your own Grand Slam.

Chris “Chubby” Frederick
Chris “Chubby” Frederick, President of ATI, has a 68-associate Coaching Company and is a frequent speaker at major conventions where he addresses the challenges of the changing automotive service industry. He began his career in the automotive equipment business in 1971 and founded Auto Test Products in 1974. He has involved shop owners in more than $100 million of equipment and computerized more than 1,200 shops with management software. During the past 25 years, he has helped more than 5,000 shop owners increase cash profits, make life easier and stay professional.

Hear “Chubby” speak at the 2008 One Midas Convention on Thursday, March 6, and discover the changes you have to make to survive and be profitable in the next five years.  You’ll also be given the keys to using tires to increase profits and traffic in a hostile competitive market.

Plus, “Chubby” will share cutting edge tips to reverse car count decline by building relationships with today’s customers and learn how to bring the customers you want back into your store WHEN you want them!

Breakout Sessions
Tires: Moving tires from the sidelines to the playing field in your shop’s every day retail mix.

Customer Experience:  Run your business to build loyal fans so your customers come back to your shop for all their service and repair needs.

Courtesy Checks:  Chris “Chubby” Frederick will coach you on how to use the Courtesy Check as the “playbook” to outline the total car care needs of every vehicle coming into your shop.

Round Table Discussions
When surveyed, Midas dealers indicate that some of the best information they gain is through networking with fellow Midas dealers.  Discussion round tables will be offered during breakfast on both Wednesday, March 5, and Thursday, March 6.  Each table will have a sign that indicates the topic to be discussed.  Because we need to ensure we have enough seating for each topic, please indicate on the registration form the discussion round tables in which you plan to participate.

2008 Round Table Discussion Topics:
Local Advertising
Fleet
Customer Retention
Community Service
Increasing Car Count
Staff: Motivation, Incentives & Recruitment
Parts Pricing Matrix
Pay Plans
Staffing Models
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Hiring the Right People

Bonus Session
There will be a bonus session with limited space availability on Friday, March 7, for dealers who choose to stay an extra day in Atlanta.  Sign up with your registration.

Financial Fundamentals
This bonus session will give you an understanding the basics of accounting and financial statements, calculation of breakeven and net profit, and determining areas of potential profitability improvement.  Class is limited to 30 participants, first-come, first-serve.

Please pre-register for the breakout sessions and for the bonus session on the registration form.

Special Events
Awards Reception and Banquet – Sponsored by NAPA
In the final inning of the convention, Midas’ most valuable players will be recognized at the annual Awards Banquet on Thursday evening.  Get dressed up, enjoy your favorite drink and share a sumptuous dinner with friends at this always-popular event.  Once you find out which dealers hit it out of the park last season, the bar will be re-opened and dessert stations will be offered.

Spouse Tour
Enjoy a delightful Southern lunch at Mary Mac’s Tea Room before heading out on a tour of the Cable News Network, the home of CNN and Headline News and the NEW World of Coca Cola.

Mary Mac’s Tea Room has been serving family-style comfort food since 1945.  After you’ve filled up on Southern cuisine, you will catch a glimpse of the fast-paced excitement of a 24-hour news broadcast in the making with a tour of Inside CNN Atlanta.  Next, the group will head to the NEW World of Coca Cola to enjoy a thrilling 3D cinematic experience, see the largest collection of Coke memorabilia ever assembled and enjoy the tasting experience with more than 70 different products to sample.

Tradeshow
The Annual IMDA Tradeshow is by far the best tradeshow you will attend this year!  The companies that exhibit at our tradeshow are focused on providing you, the Midas dealer, with the products and services you need to run a more profitable business.  And, don’t forget, many exhibiting companies offer special discounts on their products and services at the tradeshow and give away fantastic door prizes.  Last year, dealers won flat screen televisions, iPods, shop equipment and much more.  You have to be there to win big!

IMDA Board of Directors Meeting
IMDA members get front row seats at the IMDA Board of Directors meeting on Monday, March 3, 2008, from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m.  This is your chance to see your draft picks in action and to hear about the work the board is doing on behalf of the franchise organization! There will be a Q & A session.
